Meet Maxine Westhead! The director of the Marine Affairs program at Dalhousie University. The Marine Affairs programs is a 16-month course-based Masters program at Dalhousie University that is both interdisciplinary (including biologists, oceanographers, social scientists, etc.) and trans-disciplinary (working with practitioners in the field), allowing students the opportunity to gain skills needed for influencing policy and decision making within Marine Biology. Maxine plays an integral role in supporting the students within the program, ensuring smooth running of the program, and looking at the big picture – how does the curriculum come together? Looking forward to interesting conversations about how science is used to form management decisions and collaborations with industry and academia as well as about soggy breakfast cereal and the history of the Canadian doughnut shop.
